Early Childhood
Children can be referred to our Early Childhood program any time at or after their third birthday. In order to enroll in Early Childhood, children need to be evaluated and qualified as having a special need *
Each Spring, the school district holds a 3 year old birthday party. The primary purpose of the birthday party is to screen and identify children with potential special needs who would be eligible for the Early Childhood Special Education
During our birthday celebration, you and your child will:
- Participate in a developmental screening
- Have vision and hearing checked
- Meet other three year olds in the community
Following this developmental screening, families will receive results of the screening and will be notified of any potential findings that may indicate recommended early intervention
*Special needs may be considered, but are not limited to, any of the following:
- Autism
- Blind and Visually Impaired
- Deaf and Hard of Hearing
- Deafblind
- Emotional Behavioral Disability
- Intellectual Disability
- Orthopedic Impairment
- Other Health Impairment
- Significant Developmental Delay
- Specific Learning Disabilities
- Speech and Language
- Traumatic Brain Injury
